This book is for guitarists who wish to jump right into playing the guitar without going through the “music reading” stage. For example, guitarists who may find that they are stuck in a certain mode or scale such as the blues, and have an honest curiosity to find out what notes other great guitarists are playing and why. This book started life as a collection of lesson notes which I had prepared for my students. Over the years, it became a comprehensive collection of theory and practical lessons which proved to serve my students very well. These notes were also well received among guitarist friends who were curious about my personal playing style. I realized that although there are great guitar books out there, none that I could find were written specifically for guitarists who did not wish to learn how to read music first. This book attempts to demystify guitar playing and open the door for the curious guitarist who wishes to obtain the tools that will allow her or him to develop personally. It covers all the basics, from the first lesson for beginners on simple chords, through to advanced Jazz chords, scales and modes right to the tricks of bending and tapping.
